As usage of artificial intelligence (AI) increases, supporting educators in understanding how to use AI safely, effectively, and ethically in K-12 learning settings is crucial to empowering the next generation to navigate a digital future with confidence and responsibility. Explore the current state of AI literacy and learn about resources for exploring AI in STEM learning environments in this webinar recording. 

Learn about the findings and recommendations from a national landscape study conducted as part of the Building AI Literacy for Inclusion in STEM initiative, developed by NGCP in partnership with Ingenia Learning and STEM Next Opportunity Fund, made possible through the generous support of the AMD Foundation. This study was developed to better understand the current state of AI literacy across STEM learning environments.

Director of Research and Evaluation

Brenda believes in the potential of research to transform practice and works to make research accessible to a broad audience of educators and other professionals invested in equity in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

In her current role, Brenda focuses on making research accessible for practitioners in the NGCP network, building their capacity to provide equitable STEM opportunities to youth. This includes identification and dissemination of high-quality resources and exemplary practices, summarizing research in user-friendly formats, and providing research-based professional development opportunities.

Brenda has served as Co-Principal Investigator for multiple NSF-funded projects focused on equity in STEM and is the co-author of the publication, SciGirls Strategies: How to Engage Girls in STEM. Brenda received a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from UC-Santa Barbara and now lives in Portland, OR.

Camsie McAdams

Director of the Institute for a STEM Ready America, STEM Next Opportunity Fund

An experienced STEM education leader with 25 years in urban, public K-12 education, Camsie McAdams is the inaugural Director of the Institute for a STEM Ready America at STEM Next Opportunity Fund. She leads the Institute in its ambitious mission to excite 20 million young people through transformative out-of-school-time STEM experiences and connect them to the career opportunities of tomorrow. 

Previously, Camsie led global STEM efforts at Discovery Education, where she developed solutions for US and international markets. She was the lead for science and multidisciplinary curriculum development in Egypt and directed projects in the MENA region, China, and South America. Camsie focused on instructional improvement in STEM, early learning and early literacy/numeracy. 

Camsie is a former classroom teacher, coach, and curriculum/instructional leader at school, district and national levels. Camsie served in the Obama Administration as the Deputy Director for STEM at the U.S. Department of Education. She was the recipient of the Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellowship at the National Science Foundation and received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics Teaching for the state of New York. Camsie worked as the Director of STEM for DC Public Schools and was a Partner with TNTP – The New Teachers Project. 

Camsie received a degree in general engineering and political science from the University of Denver, and a Masters of Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She recently completed a Women’s Executive Leadership certification from Yale School of Management.
