Other Events
In addition to the Annual Conference, the Texas Girls Collaborative Project will host a variety of events for girl-serving organizations, educators, and business professionals in its area.
The project begins with a kick-off conference to announce the project, begin networking among the participants, and provide information on mini-grants and other key features of the project.
The kick-off conference is followed by topic forums that provide professional development activities, highlight local programs, and continue the valuable networking experience.
Regional Forums
Girl-serving organizations, after-school programs, K-12 teachers, counselors and professional organizations are invited to participate in regional forums held around the state. Forum participants:
- explore or participate in training on a topic of interest such as assessing effective precollege programs or how to effectively communicate to precollege students about STEM careers.
- learn how to get involved in the TxGCP.
- connect with companies, not-for-profits, K-12 educators, community college educators, university educators, informal educators and others contributing to the advancement of girls in STEM fields from across Texas.
- gain access to $1,000 mini-grants for collaborative efforts.
Forums and future activities of the TxGCP will center around the five themes which have surfaced regarding the needs across the state and where the TxGCP can provide leadership in pre-college STEM initiatives targeting girls:
- Build Community and Collaborations across Texas
- Provide a Forum to share Resources/Ideas/Questions
- Catalogue and Share Information on STEM Programs and Informal Learning Curriculum across Texas
- Build Community, Public and Political Awareness across Texas
- Create Standards or Common Assessment of Programs
