Mini-Grant Forum

Girls Raised In Tennessee Science (GRITS) Collaborative Project Mini-Grants support new collaborative projects to expose girls (and boys) to STEM activities and related careers.

Want to apply for a Mini-Grant but don't know where to start?  GRITS Leadership Team and Champions Board members will host a workshop to walk you through the process, including helping you register in the NGCP Program Directory, find collaborative partners, and develop your application.  The GRITS Mini-Grant Forum will be held on the campus of Belmont University in Massey Hall, Room 110 on Saturday, August 6th from 10 am until noon.

Please RSVP to http://www.ngcproject.org/events/events.cfm?eventid=207 Wednesday, August 3 if you plan to attend.

A GRITS CP Mini-Grant Success Story: Tea For Two

The "Tea For Two" mother/daughter event, held at the Perry County Middle School in Linden, was hailed as a great success. Participants enjoyed combining fun activities along with learning; and everyone agreed, it helped to strengthen the mother/daughter bond. It was also a great opportunity for communication, creativity, and opening minds to new possibilities. Twenty-four girls and their moms enjoyed morning snacks, followed by the kick off "ice breaker" team building exercise. Next, they divided into four teams to attend the activity sessions- Cyber Chic (Internet Technology), Ninja Warrior (Self Defense), Health Nut (Nutrition & Healthy Food Choices), and Glitter Girls (Science & Chemistry). In addition, lunch was provided and each team was given a gift bag which included brochures and information relating to the sessions, as well as pedometers, pens/pencils, Girl Scout rulers, GRITS glow bracelets, decorative fans, and scented candles.

We hope to see you at the GRITS CP Mini-Grant Forum on August 6.  Thank you for supporting Girls Raised In Tennessee Science!
