Issue: #28August 2010
From the Director...
Hi Everyone,
The start of the school year is quickly approaching for my campus. Girls Raised In Tennessee Science in grades K-12 are already in class.  With this in mind, I thought that I would share some thoughts about the importance of mentors. Girls in STEM tell us that their parents and teachers play a major role in their STEM education and career.  I can speak to that because my general chemistry teacher told me that I was a chemist. I listened and am glad that I did. Now I share the wisdom that I have learned from my mentors with my students.
One such nugget is " to have fun with your friends and family and as a scientist."  I take joy in a reaction that works, even after many trials. What words of wisdom would you share with Girls Raised In Tennessee Science? Send them to me and I will post in a future newsletter.Thank you for your continued support of the GRITS Collaborative Project!
