1. The Expanding Your
Horizons - West Tennessee branch is
actively working with community partners to hold
its fourth annual Expanding Your Horizons
Conference, scheduled for Saturday, September 24,
2011. Hosted by the University of Memphis,
preparations are being made to accommodate up to
160 girls in grades 6 to 9 where they will be able
to explore career opportunities in Science,
Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, (STEM).
Each girl selects four different workshops out of
a possible sixteen, each emphasizing a different
career. The girls have an opportunity to meet
these working professionals while performing a
hands-on activity related to that field. The
premise is that interest in a particular career
path will lead a girl down a productive
educational path. As working
professionals, we all know that motivation,
education and mentoring are critical to a woman's
success in any career. Contact Shelia Moses
for information about the West TN EYH at srmoses@memphis.edu

skills to the automotive
industry. For information
