Hi
everyone;
I
hope that you are having a great summer. The
GRITS Collaborative Project Leadership Team
and Champions Board have been meeting on
and off throughout the summer, making plans for
our first Annual Conference. Save these
dates - November 4 and 5. Watch this
newsletter for details!
Please
do send me information about coming
events which support girls in STEM education
and careers. Include name of
program, collaborative partners, location,
date, time, and contact person for your
event. We will be glad to share
program information through our newsletter and
through our Program Directory! The
deadline for our next "save the date" edition of
the GRITS CP newsletter will be August
15. If you have Program Directory
questions, please give me a call. Let's
build a stronger STEM collaboration across
Tennessee! Thank you for your support!

exceptional mentor for young women in STEM,
particularly in the field of
engineering. She is an Associate
Professor of Engineering Technology and Associate

the Herff College of Engineering at the University
of Memphis. She earned a Bachelor of Science in
Physics from Georgian Court University and Master

Akron. Prior to entering academia she worked in a
technical capacity for General Dynamics in Groton,
Connecticut and Babcock and Wilcox in Barberton,
Ohio. She has been teaching courses in the
engineering technology program at the University
of Memphis since 1991 and continues to work on
outreach projects aimed at middle school and high
school students that promote engineering as a
career path. She was actively involved in the
first EYH Conference held in West Tennessee in
2008 and has continued to support that event now
in its 4th year. In 2010 she was named to the
Champions Board for the GRITS Collaborative
