You're Hired!

'You're Hired!' is a project that infuses STEM and 21st Century Skills to give girls a look into what a STEM career could be like. This project is a series of day long activities that highlight multiple STEM careers.

When the girls arrive, they will be broken up into companies (teamwork). The girls will be given a problem and will have the entire day to solve it. Shortly after starting the day, the girls will need to turn in a company information sheet. This company information sheet has the girls pick what career they would like for the day (chemical engineer, microelectronics technician, manager, etc.) The girls will only have three chances to ask questions throughout the day (critical thinking and problem solving); otherwise they are on their own (time management). The students will have an opportunity to share their results at the end of the day in front of a boardroom made up of community members (professionalism).

This project truly gives the girls an idea of what it would be like to be a nanoscience technician or a chemical engineer along with multiple other STEM careers. When the girls go home, they will be telling their parents and friends about their STEM career.
