Fall Forum Announcement
The Science House Girls Collaborative Project will collaborate with The Science House Northeastern Satellite Office to present a Fall Place-Based Learning Forum on November 14, 2008.
Research-based strategies in informal learning and place-based learning will be presented at this forum focusing on our northeastern regional service area.
New Mini-Grant Cycle To Open
A new mini-grant cycle will open on the date of the conference. Mini-grant applications will be accepted from November 14, 2008 through January 1, 2009.
Working Mini-Grant Projects Underway
The Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) High School Chapter, a project designed to encourage high school girls to pursue STEM majors and careers, has begun work at the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics High School. North Carolina State University (NCSU) students from the WISE Village will act as mentors to high school girls who will have the opportunity to visit the NCSU campus.
The Olds University Connections Science Fair Buddies project, a collaboration between Fred A. Olds Elementary School, the NC State University National Science Teachers Association Student Chapter, and NC State's Office of Pre-College Programs, has begun work on increasing participation of underrepresented girls in the annual Fred A. Olds Elementary School Science Fair.
Eight more funded projects are ready to begin work with elementary, middle, and high school students throughout the Triangle area.
