  • Camp GEMS Evaluation
Collaborating Organizations: Smart College and Career Planning and GEMS (Girls Empowered in Math & Science)
    Girls Served: Ages 11-14

Girls Incorporated of Indianapolis and Marian College’s Life Science Education Center have partnered to create Camp GEMS (Girls Energized through Math and Science), a two-week specialty summer camp focused on engaging girls ages 11 to 14 in hands-on science and math activities. While encouraging girls to plan for their future education and careers, we continually provide critical messages of empowerment and help girls overcome gender stereotypes, particularly in STEM-related activities and careers. With Camp GEMS now in its second year, we are seeking funding to support the evaluation of this collaborative specialty camp so we can replicate its design with other local colleges and universities to benefit Central Indiana girls.
  • GSFG (Great Science for Girls)
Collaborating Organizations: MCCOY and Great Science for Girls
    Girls Served: Ages 11-18

A minimum of 10 Great Science for Girls (GSG) implementation sites will provide inquiry-based, gender equitable science enrichment activities for local children. MCCOY will provide ongoing training (including gender equity training and program implementation), evaluation coordination, and technical support to program sites. Young people participating in the program, with the support of their families, will explore science and science careers, expand their career awareness, increase their science knowledge, and connect to inquiry-based learning.
  • Giving Back Kids Science Field Trip
