On February 6 to February 8, the GRITS Collaborative Project, along with the MTSU WISTEM Center, the Expanding Your Horizons Network and the AAUW Foundation, will host the 2013 GRITS Annual Conference: Building STEM Capacity for Girls in the South. We will provide professional development workshops on tools and techniques needed to establish EYH Conferences to interested community groups, professional organizations, industrial and government agencies, higher education institutions and other interested groups. This professional development will also:
· Share best practices and lessons learned from Tennessee EYH leaders and from the Expanding Your Horizons Network. The workshop presenters will discuss strategies to increase minority participation for both girls and workshop leaders; identify effective fundraising strategies and use of publicity, post- evaluation of your EYH and use the on-line EYH conference registration and workshop leader content management systems. A special workshop by Techbridge (http://www.techbridgegirls.org/) titled Role Models Matter, will be provided to all participants. Finally following the lead of NGCP, a panel of EYH girls will share their thoughts on STEM and their experiences as at Tennessee EYH conferences.
