Girls Raised In Tennessee Science (GRITS) Collaborative Project: Girls Rock STEM
Parents, teachers, guidance counselors and other adults who support girls in STEM education are invited to attend the GRITS Collaborative Project Forum: Girls Rock STEM, at the MTSU Expanding Your Horizons (EYH) event on September 21, 2013. A full day of information and hands-on activities is planned. A representative from the MTSU College of Basic and Applied Sciences will provide participants with information about STEM majors and careers. Director of Admissions at MTSU, Melinda Thomas, will discuss the admissions and financial aid process. Sue Perkins of the Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee will offer a workshop on STEM opportunities and activities for girls. Wendy Peel of Texas Instruments will instruct adults on the latest technology in the STEM classroom.
Adults are invited to hear the keynote address by Liza Massey, past CEO and President of the Nashville Technology Council. GRITS Leadership Team members will introduce attendees to the National Girls Collaborative Project (NGCP) and its Tennessee collaborative, Girls Raised in Tennessee Science (GRITS). Adults will learn about the Program Directory, Mini-Grants and other valuable STEM resources available through GRITS and NGCP. Lunch and materials are provided.
