NGCP brings together organizations throughout the United States that are committed to informing and encouraging girls to pursue careers in STEM. The Collaboration Conference is an opportunity for representatives from these organizations to connect and learn from each other and national level experts. Thanks to funding provided by the Noyce Foundation, NGCP is able to provide the opportunity for 50 practitioners, representing 25 organizations serving girls in STEM, to attend the Collaboration Conference at no cost. Scholarships will be provided to teams of two from selected organizations.

Second Annual Kentucky Girls STEM Collaborative Conference
On June 21, 2010, the Kentucky Girls STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Collaborative, in partnership with the University of Louisville, held its Second Annual Conference, "STEM Innovations: Next Generation, Pathways to Success for Girls," at the University of Louisville Shelby Campus. Over 100 educators, business and community leaders, parents and girls came together to explore up-and-coming career opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics and to learn proactive steps to helping girls overcome roadblocks to their success in these fields.

Annual Conference of the Indiana-Great Lakes Girls Collaborative Project

The Indiana-Great Lakes Girls Collaborative Project is hosting their first Annual Conference. The overall goal of this conference is to extend and sustain collaboration in Indiana of girls-serving STEM project and programs. Mini grantees will present their projects and sessions for networking and professional development activities will be offered.

Engineering Gets Girls "Dancing"
Jitter Bugs became a fast favorite for girls participating in the "GECOS" (Girls Engineering Club of ScienceWorks) after school program at ScienceWorks Hands-On Museum in Ashland, Oregon. Customized creatures developed from an electric motor and controlled by girls, danced around when the circuit was completed. The GECOS program, sponsored in part by a mini-grant from the Pacific Northwest Girls Collaborative Project and in collaboration with the Ashland branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), engaged 36 elementary and middle school girls in designing and creating STEM learning projects. Other activities included fun with Lego Mindstorm robots, MIT based Crickets, Wind Turbine Technology, and much more.

First Annual STEMtech Conference

2010 SWE Literature Review
The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) has released a comprehensive review of the most impactful STEM- related literature. The compilation spans the past nine years of the SWE Magazine annual reviews of social science literature on women in engineering. The reviews provide expert analysis of published documents in the engineering and technology fields with a focus on women's issues, ranging from work/life balance to outreach to diversity in higher education.

National Center for Women and IT
By the Numbers: Statistics about Women and IT. This NCWIT-produced resource presents the most compelling statistics on women's participation in computing and information technology, on a single page.

NCWIT (National Center for Women & Information Technology) is a coalition of over 200 prominent corporations, academic institutions, government agencies, and non-profits working to increase women's participation in information technology (IT). NCWIT believes that inspiring more women to choose IT careers will create a larger and more competitive workforce, and will foster the design of technology that is as broad and creative as the population it serves. NCWIT's work spans K-12 and higher education through industry, academic and entrepreneurial careers, offering resources for every segment of the education/workforce pipeline.

Great Science for Girls (GSG) has updated their Web site with several new resources. The Family Page provides links and information on GSG. The new "Taking Action" section is filled with tools, resources, and support material to help strengthen your program. Access to Advancement Series - New Story!
The story features Space Camp for Interested Visually Impaired Students (SCI-VIS). SCI-VIS is a week long camp at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama that helps middle and high school students who are blind or have low vision to learn about space and space-related technology. Access to Advancement is funded by the National Science Foundation's Research in Disabilities Education program. The series airs on WAMC's The Best of Our Knowledge and 51% radio programs. Achieving Excellence and Innovation in Family, School, and Community Engagement Webinar Series

Camfed Fights Poverty and HIV/AIDS in Africa by Educating Girls and Empowering Women to become Leaders of Change
This week in Washington DC, Abigail Kaindu, an alumnus of Camfed's scholarship program from rural Zambia and now a champion for change in her country, is participating in a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity: President Obama's Forum with Young African Leaders, a unique event designed to highlight a "new generation of Africans who will shape sub-Saharan Africa's next 50 years."

American Association of University Women (AAUW) members across the country are serving as Regional Liaisons for the National Girls Collaborative Project. These Regional Liaisons help the people involved in the NGCP to make connections - to one another, to resources on gender equity, and to AAUW.

AWE is the Assessing Women and Men in Engineering Project, which provides exportable assessment instruments, literature resources, and methodologies for Women in Engineering and similar programs. AWE is developing resources for use by K-12 STEM programs as part of NGCP services.
