Kate L. Pickle

Kate L. PickleKate L. Pickle is Program Manager, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) at Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) in New York. She is responsible for advancing the organization’s efforts in STEM through collaborations, resource development, training, and grant management. Kate’s involvement with girl scouting as an adult began 15 years ago when she volunteered to provide STEM programming to girls in northern Maine. Prior to joining GSUSA in 2007, she worked for Girl Scouts of Rhode Island for six years. As manager for Funded Initiatives and Outreach, she was responsible for the development and management of program initiatives and collaborations to reach girls in underserved urban communities. These efforts included the implementation of after school programs, summer programs, family events, and two national initiatives—Girl Scouting in Public Housing and Girl Scouts Beyond Bars.

Before joining Girl Scouts full time, Kate worked as a staff marine scientist for Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), with primary responsibility for survey work related to dredge material monitoring, including geotechnical and bathymetric data analysis. She was also worked on project teams for software development, global information systems projects, environmental impact studies, and implementation of technology to monitor dredge material dumping activities. Kate earned her B.S. in Marine Science from Maine Maritime Academy in Castine, Maine.
